I spent my summer digging through the United Methodist Archives at Drew University and discovered the beautiful, frustrating, sometimes disturbing stories of Methodist medical missionaries in China. And the guide I created is now available online! (See above.) Have a look for curiosity sake or as a research resource, if you’re so inclined, since that is the overarching purpose of the document.
A brief note to give credit where it is due. The introduction and short histories of various denominations’ involvement in medical missions are my own writing. The scope notes, for the most part, are derived from pre-existing descriptions. Because archivists, for some mysterious reason, are far less concerned about plagiarism than academics.
